That was their opening offer.
I think Canes want to sign him either for longer or for a little cheaper if he's taking a short term deal.
Either way it'll get done. Have said from the start they'll match any offer sheet and they have more than enough cap space to do it. |

Thing is the Canes are saying they'll match an offer sheet, which means they're likely turning down four 1st round picks, so any trade offer would have to be more than that.
Basically it's "Blow us away with a huge offer, or we'll just sign him. |

Leafs fan here. Canes would be dumb to accept Drouin for Aho one for one. Nobody is offering Habs 4 first rounders for Drouin. If the Canes are (reportedly) willing to match any OS’s tells me that 4 X1sts isn’t enough so why would they accept Drouin straight up?? It would have to be Drouin ++ for Aho to make Canes seriously consider and I don’t think Habs make such a deal |
